Behind The Orange Curtain
EW! EW! EW!Spent the afternoon at a 3 year old's birthday party in Orange County.
Straight people. Working hard to ignore me. Their screaming children everywhere.
Women with perfectly (French) manicured acrylic fingernails (didn't those go out with the Indians?) and hair highlighted (or frosted, I couldn't tell) to the hilt.
Men flocking by age. The young ones over the grill.. the older ones over the cooler. Couldn't even make EYE contact with the evil lesbians. But I'll bet you anything they all pondered if their dick could bring us back to the hetero side.
All I kept thing was:
A.) How is it possible to be THIS boring.
And
B.) Since Orange County is the swinging capital of the world, how many of these plastic statues fuck each other for laughs, while their kids sleep upstairs.
Now THAT would have been a good conversation.

HA! finding that even thought it's been 8 years since I lived on the East coast that there's a reason why I moved.
Yup, i've taken four steps back..i'm not out at wokr, and i get to listen to neo-cons talk about how great the prez is....
the good thing is i get to take a bus to NYC and go protest the war, like I did yesterday with Susan Sarandon, Rev. Jackson et...
all this and i've come up with the following:
1) I can not be a sectretary for the next 15 years and

I bet all the men had the same chino shorts and polo-type shirts on, tucked in, black belt, no socks and loaferesque shoes? Yes?
How is it possible? They found out early on that 'just being yourself' is, like, really hard.
Funny how hanging out at straight bbqs, I (lesbians?) always end up feeling like a cultural observer rather than a particpant. My favorite part is the drive home with my girl - where we discuss the strange rituals of this other people who live right in our midst.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

I can see that a lot of thought was put into this post and for that I appreciate every word of it. There are a lot of great points raised. keep up the great work.
